Filter Player Game Finder Results By Playoff Round

Posted by Justin Kubatko on June 7, 2012

I have added the option to select one or more playoff rounds to the Player Game Finder on Basketball-Reference.com. At first you won't see anything different, but if you click on Playoffs under Game Type a new section will appear that allows the user to select the Playoff Round:

Playoff Rounds

You may select any subset of playoff rounds that you wish. If you want to select a single playoff round, just click on the red text for that round. The tooltips below the checkboxes allow you to select all first round series, all conference semifinals, or all conference finals.

Here are a few examples to get you started (all results since the 1986 playoffs):

I hope this addition to the Player Game Finder — as well as Tuesday's addition — prove to be helpful as you go about your research. Enjoy!

Will 1985 playoffs be added to the Player Game Finder, considering complete box scores are now available in the playoffs section?

  2. Peter Says:

Can you please do the same thing for the Player Season Finder.

I'd like to know who has scored the most NBA Finals points, for example. Thank you.

What about a specific game of a playoff round?
For instance, can we do Conference finals game 1s only?

@Johnny: Done. Here is an example:

@Peter: I only have complete game logs going back to the 1985 NBA Finals. However, you can find out who has scored the most points in the NBA Finals since then using the Player Game Finder:

Wow thanks, this is a great tool. Are you guys planning on going all the way back to the 1970 Finals and including that in the search engine? I noticed that is the last Finals with a Composite Box Score...

Also, is anybody gonna take on the 'project' of transferring box scores from the 1947-1969 NBA Finals to legit box scores?

    That would be awesome!

  6. Dave D Says:

How can we get 1st game of the finals?
    All I get its this:

    @Dave D: Argh...it should work now.
