We are happy to announce the latest addition to Basketball Reference: we now have women's Olympics statistics back to 1976, the first Summer Olympics to have a women's basketball tournament. This complements our existing men's Olympic basketball data.
In the Teams section of our International index, a table has been added with each country's historical performance at the Olympics, in case you wanted to clear up how dominant the United States' women's team has been in this competition. There is also a women's Olympics seasons table that shows who got which medal in each competition.
We also have box scores for every women's Olympic match, from the first round robin games in the 1976 Olympics to the 2016 gold medal game between the United States and Spain. Players who participated in the Olympic Games, such as Lauren Jackson and Diana Taurasi, now have international pages.
If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to contact us through our feedback form.

We have decided to remove the team and player Elo Rating pages. We had high hopes for the raters when we launched them but over the years they have too often become a test tube for online campaigns to elevate Dallas Cowboys or push down Los Angeles Lakers to a degree that we don't have any faith that they represent actual general user opinions on the relative quality of players or teams.
These pages will be removed as we launch our redesigned sites this summer beginning with hockey in a week or two.

Today, we finalized the purchase of basketballreference.com from the folks at Rotowire (thanks guys!). This really doesn't do much for you as an end user, but I thought I'd also mention that there are some domain name tricks that can help you.
The main one is that each site has a shortened url of 5-6 characters that can save some typing on your end. This is especially useful on your phones.

We like to keep our sites really, really fast and obsess over as many performance details as we can. Unfortunately one area where we have little control is in the performance of our advertisements as companies of our size typically outsource this task. We rely on ads for 85% of our revenue, but we are aware that some of these ads degrade our service.
We have decided to launch a new ad-free service. It's available on all of our sites and for $20 you can surf all of our sites ad-free. To sign up see the "AD FREE" link that now appears at the top of every page.

Using this service will make your surfing experience much faster and will continue to support our site.

Due to a need to replace a faulty power supply the sites will be down for hopefully just a few minutes tomorrow afternoon as the power supply is being replace. The work is scheduled to occur sometime between 1 and 3 pm ET and should affect only our CFB, CBB and Olympics sites and this blog. Should a longer outage be necessary or any additional sites be affected, we will post any updates to our twitter accounts.
