Ny Times: Taking Ineptness to New Lows

Here is a link to my column on the Charlotte Bobcats that appeared in the New York Times this week:

Taking Ineptness to New Lows

In case you haven't been paying attention, the Bobcats are really bad.

While they are certainly historically bad it is too early to make a judgement over Jordan's performance. Much of it depends on what happens the next two years. If for example they land one of the top two picks in the upcoming draft they are in a better position than after their playoffs appearence. A team with Kemba Walker, Biyombo and Anthony Davis / Andre Drummond is potentially a superior core to Stephen Jackson, Gerald Wallace, Felton and Diaw. And this team next season is still bad enough to get another good lottery pick. If they don't have much misfortune with the ping pong balls they could end up with an elite shot blocker, post presence and one or two reasonably good perimeter player in two years. It is certainly better than hovering around 8-10 with no real perspective.
