While Virginia is not officially recognized as a Southern Conference member in 1936 by the Southern Conference or the NCAA, we think it is important to note that they were members of the conference for the entirety of their football season, leaving the conference on December 11, 1936, which was over two weeks after their final game. They finished the season 1-5 in games against members of the Southern Conference.
