Summary

Competing in her first Olympics, China’s [Wei Meng], won the qualification round, where six shooters went through to the final. Italian [Diana Bacosi], the 2013 skeet world champion beat her teammate and 2008 Olympic champion [Chiara Cainero] with 15 hits to 14 (out of 16 shots) in the gold medal match. Defending champion [Kim Rhode], won the bronze medal after a close battle with Wei, and became the first Olympian to win an individual medal at six consecutive Summer Games. Italian luger [Armin Zöggeler] is the only Winter Olympian with the same record. The 36-year-old Rhode won her first World Championship title in the double trap event in 1992, aged only 13.
