The 1991 World Champions were [Chen Zihe] and [Gao Jun]. The final came down to them against their Chinese teammates, [Deng Yaping] and [Qiao Hong], who they had surprisingly defeated at the World Championships. Deng/Qiao won in four games. Two days later they would play each other in the final of the singles. Deng and Qiao later won the 1995 World Championships.
