The program was the same as in 1976, with seven events. There were two pistol events – free and rapid-fire; two rifle events – small-bore prone and small-bore three positions; two shotgun events – trap and skeet; and the running target event. Women again competed alongside men with all events mixed. Five women competed in 1980. All the events were conducted at the [Dynamo Shooting Range]. The US-inspired boycott definitely weakened the competitions as three top shooting nations – West Germany, Switzerland, and the United States – did not compete.
