This was the first time the 50 kilometer walk was contested at the Olympic Games. [Tommy Green] won the event by seven minutes, although a pack of three had been together at the 40 km. mark. [Ugo Frigerio] added a bronze medal to his shorter walk gold medals from the 1920 and 1924 Olympics.
