The program was changed slightly from 1924, but only involving the track events. The road events were the same – an individual and team event conducted concurrently. It was a 168 km. individual time trial starting in Amsterdam, looping to Scheveningen and returning. The team segment consisted of four riders for each nation with the three best times of the four riders to count towards the team time. The track races consisted of the kilometer time trial, match sprint, tandem match sprint, and team pursuit. The change from 1924 was that the 50 km. race was dropped, and the kilometer time trial was added. This program, both road and track, would stay exactly the same thru the 1956 Olympics. The track events were conducted within the Olympic Stadium on a velodrome surrounding the running track.
