Although not well-known internationally [Robin Reed] is considered one of the greatest American wrestlers ever, finishing his career undefeated. He won the gold medal in this class comfortably, defeating his teammate [Chet Newton] in the final. The two had wrestled each other multiple times in the Pacific Northwest, with Reed, who did not personally like Newton at all, always winning. The bronze medal went to Japanâs [Katsutoshi Naito], the first Olympic wrestling medal ever won by an Asian.
