[Fritz Traun] was supposed to enter the tennis doubles with a partner whose name has not survived, but who withdrew from an injury. He then competed with [John Pius Boland], who had defeated him in the singles, and they won the championship. No records of any of the match results, other than the final, exist.
Traun was a good German athlete, but primarily as a runner. Between 1893 and 1894 he set several German records at distances from 880 yards up to 2 miles. He competed in the [100 metres] and [800 metres] in Athens but did not qualify for the finals.
