Biography

Francisco Villota was a Cantabrian from Santander, Spain. He was known as an all-around athlete who once did the Madrid-El Escorial walk in eight hours. In addition to playing pelota basque he was president of the Euskal-Jai Club of Madrid. In that role, Villota helped organize pelota tournaments in Madrid from 1908-10. He was described as a “strong and muscular” man.
