Dutch painter Coba Surie studied in Amsterdam at the Rijksakademie. She was a watercolor painter, printmaker, draftsman and lithographer. She mostly painted still lifes and belonged to the Amsterdamse Joffers, a women-only art movement, who were a group of Dutch impressionists of the 19th and 20th century. In 1913 she was awarded the Willink van Collen prize and in 1929 a gold medal by Queen Wilhelmina.
