Biography

Equestrian Rosemarie Springer came in seventh in the individual dressage at the 1960 Roma Olympics. She was the daughter of SS Obergruppenführer Werner Lorenz, who was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment in 1948 but was pardoned in 1955, and the third wife of the well-known publisher Axel Cäsar Springer from 1953-61. She won five West German national dressage titles.

After her active career, Springer started breeding of Trakehner warmblood horses at her farm hall near Bad Bramstedt in the north of Hamburg, and trained dressage riders herself. Even at age 90, Rosemarie Springer still gave riding lessons and went skiing in the Alps at Arlberg.
