Biography

Belgian sculptor Suzanne Silvercruys Farnam was the daughter of Belgian diplomat Baron Silvercruys, President of the Belgian Supreme Court. She emigrated from Belgium to the United States in 1915 and worked as a fundraiser for Belgian relief efforts. She moved to New York to marry Henry W. Farnham, Jr. in 1922.

In 1928 Silvercruys Farnam earned a BA in fine arts at Yale University and had a career as a professional sculptor specializing in busts of notable persons, including Ralph Pickard Bell, first Chancellor of Mount Allison University. She later married Edward Fox Stevenson and was active in Republican politics.
