From 1916-21 Swiss FrÃ©dÃ©ric Schmied studied sculpture design at the Ãcole des Beaux-Arts in GenÃ¨ve. Initially, he had worked as a trained architectural draftsman. Supported by public scholarships, he made various study trips abroad. Since 1931 he resided in GenÃ¨ve. He mainly produced statues and sculptures of torsos, busts, animals and nudes. Schmied primarily used materials such as marble, bronze and stone, emphasizing the power of volition and physical strength.
