German bantamweight boxer Egon Schidan from DÃ¼sseldorf was eliminated at the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games in the last 16. He was the German Champion three years in succession from 1951-53. Schidan was later employed by the cultural office in DÃ¼sseldorf, whilst his wife Jenny owned a flower stall on the market next to the town hall.
