Dutch artist Kees Roovers was a medalist, painter, draftsman, calligrapher, pen artist, pastelist, craftsman, sculptor, lithographer, manufacturer of woodcuts. He produced land- and cityscapes, still lifes, but also portraits and figure studies. He was the son of Dutch calligrapher, designer and graphic artist Johannes Roovers, who was also his first teacher. Kees Roovers attended the Academy for Visual Arts in Rotterdam. In 1942 he became a member of Kunstkring Nederland, regularly participating in their exhibitions. Roovers lived in Rijswijk and Voorburg before moving to Den Haag in 1936, where he spent the rest of his life.
