John Riley attended Northwestern University and won back-to-back NCAA championships in wrestling. But wrestling was far from his only sport; he was also an excellent rower, and he played football at Northwestern. In fact, after winning his silver medal at the 1932 Olympics, Riley played one year in the NFL with the old Boston Redskins. He later became the wrestling coach at his alma mater for many years. |
