Terry Porter was an unusual cross-country skier in that he attended the University of California at Santa Cruz, where he was in environmental studies. He later earned an MA from John F. Kennedy University in clinical psychology and a PhD from the University of Massachusetts in management. He has since became a professor of management at the University of Maine Business School.
