Biography

PattiSue Plumer was a middle- and long-distance runner who competed at the 1988 and 1992 Olympics, running the 3,000 both years and placing 10th in the 1,500 metres in 1992. Internationally Plumer won gold in the 1990 Goodwill Games in the 3K, adding a bronze medal in the 1,500. She won the 1990 Grand Prix Final in the 5,000 metres, placing third in the 3,000 at the 1989 Grand Prix Final. Plumer also added a bronze medal at the 1985 World Indoor Games in the 3,000 metres.

Plumer ran in college for Stanford, where she won the 1984 NCAA title in the 5,000 metres and also won the indoor 2-mile title in 1983. Plumer was a nine-time All-American while at Stanford. In 1990 she won the Fifth Avenue Mile in New York, setting a long-standing course record. She was US Champion outdoors in the 3K in 1989 and 1992, and the 5K in 1990-91. She was ranked #1 in the US for 3,000 metres from 1989-92.

After college Plumer received a law degree from Stanford and worked as a lawyer for several years. She also coached high school track and cross-country in Palo Alto, California.

Personal Bests: 1500 – 4:03.42 (1992); 3000 – 8:40.98 (1992).
