Vasily Pervukhin began playing hockey with Dizelist Penza in 1974, joining Dynamo Moskva in 1976 and playing there until 1989. Pervukhin never won a Soviet title, but was seven times a runner-up (1977-80, 1985-87) and won bronze four times (1981-83, 1988). After leaving Dynamo Moskva in 1989 Pervukhin played ten more seasons, before finally retiring in 1999. He played for the Oji Eagles (Japan) from 1989-95, then had one season with both Krylya Sovetov Moskva and Severstal Cherepovets, before finishing his playing career with Molot-Prikamye Perm in 1997-99. Internationally besides his two Olympic medals, Pervukhin was World champion six times (1978-79, 1981-83, 1986) and European champion seven times (1979, 1981-83, 1985-87), also winning silver (1987) and bronzes (1977, 1985) at the World Championships and a silver (1978) and bronze (1977) at the European Championships. In 1979 Pervukhin played on the winning Soviet Union team in the Challenge Cup between the Soviet Union and NHL All-Stars, and in 1981 won the Canada Cup, also winning silver at the 1987 and bronze at the 1984 Canada Cup. After his sporting career Pervukhin worked from 1999-2001 and from 2003-05 as the head coach of Molot-Prikamye Perm. From 2001-03 he was the head coach of FHK LiepÄjas Metalurgs in Latvia. |
