Swiss sculptor, medalist and painter André Pettineroli was the brother of Édouard Pettineroli (1896-1961), also an artist. André made an apprenticeship as a woodcarver and attended the Ecole des Arts et Metiers, and later the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne. In 1930 André was awarded a Swiss Federal Art Scholarship. In the following years, he travelled to Rome, Paris and Tunisia. He had his most important exhibitions in the second half of the 1930s in various Swiss cities. Pettineroli produced paintings and prints as well as sculptures in wood, stone, marble and bronze.
