Biography

Sepp Paar, a German welterweight wrestler, finished second at the 1935 Greco-Roman European Championships. He then qualified for the 1936 Berlin Olympics, where he finished sixth in the freestyle competition. In 1936 and 1937 he won the German national freestyle title and after World War II he was the national Greco-Roman champion in 1948 and 1949. He then coached AC Bad Reichenhall who won the German team title in 1950.

Paar was born to a farming family and his early career saw him as a chef before he trained as a carpenter. After the war he built up a furniture business, which he later developed into an interior construction company.
