Brian Oliver was a long and triple jumper and sprinter. He was a five-time Australian champion, winning the triple jump title in 1953-54 and 1956, and the long jump title in 1953 and 1956. The highlight of his career came in winning the triple jump at the 1950 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. He won two bronze medals in relays at the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games, helping Australia to third-place finishes in both the 4x110 yard and 4x440 yard relays. Oliver was world-ranked three times in the triple jump (1950, 1953-54) with a best of #3 in 1950 and placing #4 in 1953.
