Ward McLanahan finished second in the pole vault at the 1904 IC4As and tied for first in the 1905 IC4As. He competed for Yale and the NYAC. McLanahan was from Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, and eventually returned there after college to run his family business, the McLanahan Corp. He expanded the business which became one of the nationâs largest manufacturers of equipment for the pit mine and quarry industries. His first position after graduation was in Joplin, Missouri, as a superintendent of zinc and lead mines.
