Bob McAllister won the 1922 AAU 100y and came back six years later to finish second at the AAU Meet, which doubled as the Olympic Trial and put him on the 1928 Olympic team. He ran for the NY Knights of Columbus. McAllister was known as âThe Flying Cop,â for his speed and his profession as a police officer in New York City. He became a deputy inspector with the NYPD, although he was twice suspended, once on suspicion of perjury charges, and once on murder charges after shooting suspect in a car theft. He was acquitted in both cases and continued on the police force.
