At the 1912 Stockholm Olympics Luber was eliminated in the first round of the platform and the plain high diving event, but he took silver on springboard behind his teammate [Paul Günther], but ahead of [Kurt Behrens] and [Albert Zürner], underlining the German dominance in this event.

By profession, Luber became a teacher at the Deutsche Hochschule für Leibeserziehungen (German High School for Gymnastic Exercises) in Leipzig, and also a sports teacher for the Berlin Electricity Company. In 1914 he wrote the textbook Der Schwimmsport.
