Biography

Rower Achim Krause-Wichmann participated in the coxless four with [Werner Biel], his brother [Hans], and [Hanns Peters] at the Helsinki Olympics in 1952, the highlight of his career. The boat won its heat in 6:40.8 minutes ahead of the favored Norway and Italy boats. They lost their semi-final and also closely lost the repêchage semi-final and missed the final. Achim came third at the 1954 German Championships in the coxless pairs with non-Olympian Werner Häring, and in 1955 Achim and his brother Hans finished second in the coxed pairs.
