German Walther Kohlhase studied at the Art Academy in Wrocław until 1931 and later in Leipzig. He was a representative of what was termed New Objectivity. After World War II Kohlhase worked in Schleswig-Holstein as a student trainer for art teachers. He was specialized as a wood-cutter and lithograph.
