Swedish sculptor Gustav Arvid KnÃ¶ppel was the son of Olympic sports shooter [Johan Arvid KnÃ¶ppel] and his wife Cecilia Elsbeth Schultz, who was a Swedish sculptor, draftswoman, printmaker, writer and painter. Gustav Arvid studied in the 1920s at the Academy of Art in Stockholm, MÃ¼nchen, Italy and Switzerland. He was best known for his works for churches and crematoriums in Stockholm and Karlstad and his animal sculptures and portrait busts. KnÃ¶ppel owned a reserve of Scandinavian wildlife, and is primarily known for sculptures of animals and animal drawings, which were noted for their realism and impressionism.
