Speed skater Fritz Jungblut lived in Vienna, but was a native German. He competed for Austria most of the time, especially on World and European Championships. His only appearance as a German has been at the Olympics in 1928, where he placed 20th over 500 m, 11th over 1500 m, and 16th over 5000m. He set a total of five national records from 1000 m to 10000 m and the all-round. Jungblut placed 14th at both the 1928 and 1931 World Championships in the all-round. Still a junior, he was ranked 4th at the 1926 European Championships and five years later 12th at the same event. At the Austrian Championships, he took the title in 1928 and 1930, second place in 1931 and third in 1932.
