Biography

Polly Hill was the wife of [George Hill]. The couple met during their studies at Syracuse and then studied together in Paris. She was a teacher at her husband’s art school and illustrated poetry books. Her early interest was in European architecture. Polly later specialized in etchings, partly handcolored in addition to lithographs and watercolors. Her favorite motifs were figures and sometimes satirical genre scenes, populated interiors, landscapes and town views.
