German swimmer Arthur Heina finished eighth in the semi-finals of the 200m breaststroke at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Unfortunately, only the best seven qualified for the final. In 1935 and 1939 he was German 200m breaststroke champion. Heina set a European record in 1937 and a world record in 1938. In 1953 he again won a German national title with the SV 13 Gladbeck 4x200m breaststroke relay team alongside non-Olympians Walter and Siegfried Kruschinski and Lutz Ebbinghaus. Heina later was an international swimming breaststroke referee.
