Billy Hardin was a 400 hurdler who was the son of the 1936 gold medalist in that event, Glenn Hardin. The younger Hardin was quite talented himself, winning the AAU and NCAA titles in 1964. As did his father, he competed for LSU, where he won seven Southeast Conference Championships. Hardin was 1960 Louisiana state high school champion in the high hurdles, although he had to hitchhike to the meet after his car broke down. Hardin was inducted into the LSU Athletics Hall of Fame.
