Biography

Gert Grigoleit was born in Germany but became a naturalized US citizen. He won the 1963 and 1964 AAU title in K-2 along with [Bill Jewell], but Grigoleit raced at the Olympics alongside [Tony Ralphs]. The three represented the California Kayak Club and with [Walter Richards] won the 1964 AAU K-4 title. The team won the 1964 US Olympic Trials in K-4, but Grigoleit did not race that boat at the Olympics. He later was head coach for the US canoeists at the 1968 Olympics.
