Biography

Eugène Grisar played only doubles at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics, partnered by [Maurice Van Den Bemden]. They lost in the first round in straight sets to France’s [Jean-Pierre Samazeuilh] and [Daniel Lawton]. Little is known about Grisar but it is likely he came from a sporting family, as three Grisars – Alfred, Albert, Robert – were members of the Organizing Committee for the 1920 Olympic Games. The Grisar family founded the Beerschot Football and Athletic club. In addition, Robert Grisar’s wife was Belgian mixed doubles champion in 1921.
