Biography

Erik Granfelt won a bronze medal in tug-of-war at the 1906 Athina Olympics, and in 1908 returned as a member of the Swedish gymnastics team that won the gold medal. Erik Granfelt was the Swedish flagbearer at the 1908 Olympic Opening Ceremony. Two of his brothers, [Nils Granfelt] and [Hans Granfelt] were also Olympic athletes, with Nils winning a team gymnastics gold medal in 1912. Hans was a discus thrower at the 1920 Olympics and then returned 16 years later to compete in fencing at the Berlin Olympics. Erik Granfelt was also a high level footballer (soccer), helping AIK (Allmänna Idrottsklubben) win the 1901 Swedish Championship.
