Lajos GÃ¶ncz played singles and doubles at the 1924 Paris Olympics. He lost in early rounds in both events and after the Olympics, became a tennis coach, lecturer, and writer, which made him a professional in that era.
GÃ¶ncz married Ilona Heimann, but they divorced in 1928. Their son, [ÃrpÃ¡d GÃ¶ncz], became a politician and was President of Hungary from 1990-2000, although the son and father were never close after the divorce.
