The West German soccer team at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics was part of the mixed German team that was defeated 2-1 by the Soviet Union in the first round and immediately eliminated. Goalkeeper Albert GÃ¶rtz played five international matches for the amateur national team in 1956 and 1957. Domestically he played for DÃ¼sseldorfer SC and Fortuna 95 DÃ¼sseldorf (1957-66).
From 1970-74, he worked as the purchasing manager of a machine factory based in Dormagen and was head coach of Fortuna's amateurs. Up to 1983 he had further coaching posts at Rheydter SV, Sparta Bilk and SC Unterbach.
