Biography

Adeline Gehrig competed for the New York Turnverein, where Yankee first baseman Lou Gehrig used to work out, but there is no truth to the oft-repeated rumor that they were related. Adeline Gehrig won the American Fencing League of America (AFLA) women’s foil title for four consecutive years, winning in 1920-23. She worked as a stenographer at a New York railroad office during her fencing career.
