Biography

One of the best Danish attackers in the 1960s, Henning Enoksen was a three-time top scorer in the Danish League (1958, 1962, 1966). He made his début in the Danish top flight league in 1957 for Vejle, switching to AGF in 1962. In this period, he won the league title in 1958 and the Danish Cup in 1958, 1959 and 1965. In 1958, he débuted internationally against Curaçao, scoring twice in his first international match. He would eventually collect 54 caps, scoring 29 times. The latter figure made him one of the more successful strikers in Danish history, and at the time of his death he was still ranked 7th among most scoring Danish internationals. In the 1960 Olympics, Enoksen and the Danish squad exceeded expectations, beating defending champion Hungary en route to a silver medal. Enoksen was also selected for the Danish Euro 1964 squad, but did not actually play during the tournament. Following his retirement from top football in 1967, Enoksen continue to play with amateur side Tønder SF, first as player/manager, later as manager only. In 1973, he was made into the national team coach of Iceland, but after six straight losses within a few months, he was fired.
