Wolfgang Dessecker took part in the University World Games, where he earned one gold over 800 metres (1933), two silvers in the Olympic Relay (1935 and 1937), and two bronzes in the 1,500 (1933) and the 4x400 relay (1937). At the 1939 University World Championships in 1939 Dessecker won two golds in the 800 and 1,500 metres. Domestically he won four national titles, with five seconds and one third place between 1931-39. In 1938 he ran an European Record over 1,000 metres, with 2:28.9. At the 1936 Olympics he was eliminated in the semifinals over 800 metres. Dessecker later became a PhD in mathematics.
