Biography

Dick Delgado wrestled in high school in California and then joined the Navy, where we won an AAU freestyle title in 1953 and in 1954, won AAU championships in both freestyle and Greco-Roman. After his Navy service, Delgado enrolled at the University of Oklahoma. While at Oklahoma he won three Big Seven conference championships, and was a three-time All-American, topped by winning the NCAA title in his junior and senior years. In 1958 he was named the NCAA Outstanding Wrestler Award. He was later inducted into the University of Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.
