Berton Crandall graduated from Stanford University in 1906, the year of the great earthquake. He was one of the photographers who documented the Palo Alto area before and after. He became a professional photographer and stayed in Palo Alto until his death. He documented extensively Stanford University campus architecture and athletic events.
