Bertram Clements’ club Casuals FC was the winner of the 1936 FA Amateur Cup and runner-up in the Isthmian League the same year, the best ever finish by the Casuals and later Corinthian-Casuals who were formed following the merger between Casuals and Corinthians in 1939. In the 1936 Olympic tournament, he was a substitute against China but played the match against Poland in the center forward position, scoring the first goal for his team. Joined Barking FC in 1937-38 and in two seasons before the War and one after the War he scored 63 goals, including six hat-tricks.
