In total Maurice Carême published more than 80 books of poems, novels, stories, essays and translations. His works were often used as templates for movies and set to music by many composers. The excellent pupil received a job as a teacher in 1918 Anderlecht. In 1919 he founded a literary magazine La Revue Indépendante, and in 1931 he founded the Journal of Poets, along with some other journals. In 1933 he studied at the conservatory in Brussels. After his roman Mère he became a well-known writer.
