Biography

Ken Carpenter was a track sprinter who competed in cycling for the USA at the 1988 and 1992 Olympics. Carpenter was also the gold medalist in the match sprint at the 1987 Pan American Games. He was a four-time US Champion in the match sprint (1988-91) and rode at the World Championships in 1989, 1990, and 1991. He rode professionally with Subaru Montgomery from 1988-95, after representing Sunkyong at the 1988 Olympics. Internationally Carpenter also raced keirin frequently.

Carpenter graduated from San Francisco State University. From 1996-99 he worked as a sales trader for Bank of America. In 1999 he joined Thomas Weisel Partners as a managing partner, working with them through 2010. He also worked for Team Specialized in various roles from 1997-2012. After leaving the investment field in 2010, Carpenter became a specialist in dog training, working with Refined K-9. He also took up jiu-jitsu. He and his family live part-time on Guam, where Carpenter does much of his jiu-jitsu training.
