Biography

The highlight of fencer Walter Brödel of SV Saar 05 Saarbrücken’s career was participating in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, although he was eliminated in the first round of both the foil and sabre team events. In 1953 and 1954 he was third in the individual sabre at the Saarland Championships in the individual sabre. At the age of 63 years Brödel committed suicide.
