Biography

František Brůna played handball with Baník Karviná from 1961-76 and won Czechoslovakian titles with them in 1968 and 1972. From 1976-84 he played with KH Kopřivnice, before finishing his career with MHK Piešťany. Brůna was capped 108 times with the Czechoslovakian national team and scored 371 goals. He won an Olympic silver in 1972, was World Champion in 1967, and won bronze at the 1964 World Championships. At the 1967 World Championships, Brůna was also chosen to the tournament All-Star team. Outside of sports, Brůna worked as a miner.
